Destination: Rafting in the Taku watershed
Lindsey and Sam spent eight days rafting in the Taku River watershed. The watershed is 4.5 million acres - the size
of New Jersey. There are no towns or roads, just forests, rivers and wildlife. The purpose of the trip was to get
to know the river and better understand why it needs to be protected. We saw spawning salmon, heard wolves howl from
the forest, and caught trout for dinner. Lindsey saw her first grizzly bear. But it is the landscape and the wildness
that is most captivating.
